Modern Farmhouse Bathroom

This project was a complete gut renovation, transforming a dated, builder-grade master bathroom into a stunning modern farmhouse retreat. By blending vintage charm with clean, contemporary lines, we created a space that is both beautiful and highly functional.

The Problem

The existing master bathroom was a sea of outdated builder-grade features. The vanities were too low, and the layout was inefficient, with an unused tub taking up valuable space. The open water closet lacked privacy, and the outdated mirrors and lighting made the entire room feel uninspired. The challenge was to completely reimagine the space to better serve the homeowners' needs and style.

The Solution

To solve these issues, the bathroom was completely gutted. I began by addressing the layout, opting to remove the tub and reconfigure the shower. While the homeowners originally wanted a seamless entry, I found a more cost-effective solution by adding a simple curb. For the finishes, I selected a tuscan-inspired floor tile and classic white subway tile, creating a core modern farmhouse aesthetic. I kept the shower feeling open and airy by enclosing only half of it with a large piece of glass, which eliminated the need for a door.

The large, clunky vanity was replaced with two individual, vintage-style vanities in a warm wood tone to add depth and character. Plain white quartz countertops were chosen to provide a clean, modern contrast. For privacy, I enclosed the water closet. To balance aesthetics with practicality, I added an extra-large, high-gloss white medicine cabinet between the vanities for ample storage. The final details included brushed nickel faucets and showerhead, along with black mirrors and lighting, which provided a striking contrast to the warm wood and white tile. To ensure a cohesive feel throughout the home, the guest bathroom was also renovated with the same materials.
